Summary Everything in a nutshell

Here you will find all the important information about the electronic patient file in a nutshell

  • The electronic patient file - ePA for short - is a digital file for personal health data. It works like a secure data safe: all information is stored in a specially protected manner.

  • Use of the ePA is voluntary. Anyone who does not wish to have an EPR can object to this with their health insurance company.

  • All important health data can be collected centrally in the ePA. The information is then not only stored in doctors' surgeries or clinics, but is also available in the ePA app.

  • You retain control over your data at all times. You can specify who is authorised to access which documents - and for how long.

  • You can also add your own files or delete outdated information.

  • To use the ePA independently, you need to register in the app. The app can be downloaded to your smartphone from the app store.

  • You can also use the ePA offline. This means that those treating you can still view the data you wish to share.
